There are at least two things to know about Democratic nominee Kamala Harris: she takes her pantsuits very seriously, and she knows exactly how to push Republicans’ buttons.

In what many are calling a nod to former President Barack Obama’s stylish yet extremely controversial tan suit, Vice President Harris hit the stage during the first night of the Democratic National Convention dressed in her personal take on the color tan. Some hated it, others loved it. But what’s clear is that her strategic wardrobe choice kept the public talking throughout the night.

On X, user @mmpadellan called Harris’ suit “the best unintentional trolling” throughout the whole night.

How could you ever forget the uproar that Obama’s tan suit caused?! In 2014, the former president showed up to a White House press conference dripped down in a tan suit, corresponding tie, and white button-down shirt. Critics accused Obama of not taking the job seriously all because of his wardrobe choice, and the media had a blast covering it for weeks.

Ten years after what is dramatically known as one of the “worst scandals in presidential history, the vice president revived similar criticism as she walked out to Beyonce’s “Freedom” playing in the background.

Chair of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Matt Schlapp, took to X to bash Harris, calling her a “walking Hallmark card.”

When it comes to the battle of the tan suit, many on X say Harris wore it even better than the first Black president did!

Even though many are calling Harris’ tan suit a total coincidence, X user @AndreaR9Md disagrees. They wrote “Women understand fashion, women in politics understand it times 100.”

In another nod to women running for president, Hillary Clinton showed up in a beige get-up of her own, and X users were quick to spot the similarities between the two women.

Another user, @kbiegel, called Harris’ suit the “greatest move of the year.”

Despite the criticism, one thing most people can agree on is that she looked good! As the Democratic National Convention continues throughout the week, expect to see more of Harris’ pantsuits and hear even more from her haters.
