So, I have this theory about babies, and I’m sure I’m not alone: Most of us come out of the womb looking like low-grade aliens (actually, from the looks of it, I stayed in that phase until around age two), and right around the three-month point, we hit some incredible stride of cuteness—likely, to keep folks motivated enough to get up with us at all hours of the night.
I’ve formed this theory over many years of research, both through keen observation of the children in my life, and over a decade of experience with much-younger siblings. And then, of course, there is the growing crop of offspring at The Root, all of whom grow cuter by the day.
But will you look at this little pudding right here?
Who knew I would ever find a miniaturized version of Dwyane Wade so adorable? And Kaavia James’ mom is no slouch either; after revealing the longtime struggle she and Wade had conceiving both naturally and via IVF (including multiple miscarriages), Gabrielle Union is continuing to open up about the journey to her first daughter’s birth in the May issue of Parents magazine.
Since it’s not even April yet, it’s too soon to link to the story, but a few quotes were captioned for Instagram, and this one really stands out:
“This has been the divine coming to fruition,” Union tells Parents. “Kaavia has allowed us to dream bigger and wider than we ever have before.”
Obviously, “us” includes the blended family of Union, Wade, Wade’s two sons from his first marriage, and an adopted nephew—all of whom highly anticipated Kaavia’s arrival last November. They are reveling in their family’s hard-won new addition and continuing to give hope to others struggling with infertility issues.
“She represents that maybe there is a light at the end,” says Union.
