Sounds like things are going from bad to worse for A$AP Rocky, who is currently being held in a Swedish jail on accusations he assaulted someone during a street brawl about a week ago.

According to TMZ, the 30-year-old rapper is being held in filthy, inhumane conditions, with little food and without basic comforts like a blanket, and in close proximity to another inmate who flings feces everywhere.

In addition, Rocky has been given little access to U.S. Consulate officials, despite international laws saying he’s entitled.

Per TMZ:

Our sources say an official from the U.S. Embassy in Sweden told A$AP Rocky’s team that the person from the U.S. Consulate who visited Rocky in the jail reported back, “Walking into that place was like walking into a toilet.”

[...]

Our sources tell TMZ ... the rapper is sleeping on a yoga mat with no blankets. There is a prisoner in the next cell with severe mental issues who slams his head against the concrete wall and hurls feces every which way ... feces that are not cleaned up.

The water, we’re told, is not clean and the food is not edible ... for the first 5 days A$AP Rocky ate an apple a day, and that’s it.

We’re told the facility is filthy and “disease ridden.”

And there’s apparently no quick end in sight for Rocky. As XXL reports, Sweden’s Supreme Court on Monday denied Rocky’s appeal for release, and so he will be held for at least another two weeks while Swedish police investigate the alleged assault.

“The conditions of the facility are horrific,” Rocky’s manager, Chace Infinite, wrote on Instagram, XXL reports. “Some of the inhumane conditions Rocky and his colleagues are facing at the Stockholm Detention Center include 24/7 solitary confinement, restriction of amenities for the most basic of human functions, access to palatable and life sustaining food as well as unsanitary conditions.”

According to XXL, Infinite said he expects trial to begin sometime in August, but says keeping Rocky locked up until then “is a punishment before the fact, with no due process.”

For now, fans and friends are standing behind Rocky, with a petition launched Tuesday by #JusticeForRocky on Change.org, demanding the rapper’s release. It had garnered 65,000 of a hoped-for 75,000 signatures before day’s end, XXL reports.
