Joe Budden Still Claiming Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Helped Set Tory Lanez Up

Budden seems to be the one of the last people in Lanez’s corner.

It’s been almost a year since Canadian singer Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Since he was found guilty in 2023, critics have been coming out of the woodworks to express their apologies to Megan for not believing her, but one die-hard hater just won’t let up.... Joe Budden.

The New York rapper and podcast host took to his own show The Joe Budden Podcast to once again maintain Lanez’s innocence. Budden said during his Aug. 1 episode that if people believe Lanez shot Megan “I stand by: you’re an idiot.”

Budden’s revival of the case against the “Say It” singer comes after the official testimony from the driver of the 2020 shooting was released to the public. To refresh your memory, back in July 2020, Meg alleged she was shot by Lanez after a drunken dispute between the two of them and Megan’s former best friend, Kelsey Harris.

The testimony from driver Jaquan Smith stated he never actually saw exactly who pulled the trigger that night, according to Baller Alert. Smith’s testimony was not included in the trial. Lanez was charged, convicted, and sentenced for the incident, but Budden, a friend of Lanez, always insisted Lanez did not shoot Megan.

How does he know that? Well, the “Pump It Up” rapper claimed during his podcast “I know how that gun got there. I know who gun it was,” he said. Although he did not detail exactly how he knew, Budden furthered his claim saying Lanez was set up. He doesn’t think Megan set up Lanez, but he does believe Megan is a “pawn” in this greater conspiracy.

“I think it’s above her,” Budden said. “I don’t think she made it up. She’s a mere pawn in this. This play is greater than her. She didn’t make nothing up. I ain’t gonna say who I think made it up … But it wasn’t her.”

If that wasn’t shady enough, Budden went on to expose his private conversations with Harris, saying “Kelsey jumped into my DMs talking about, ‘Aye, don’t talk about this no more.’ Why? You got immunity. It’s odd.”

Budden’s conspiracies are just that ... conspiracies with not much proof to back them up. As Lanez sits behind bars while Megan climbs the music charts, it’s clear Budden just doesn’t like the girl.
