On the heels of Jay Z and the Weinstein Co. telling the story of Kalief Browder, the two are now teaming up to bring Trayvon Martin’s story to life via a TV docuseries and film.
According to Variety, the six-part miniseries will delve into Trayvon’s life before he was killed by George Zimmerman, and his legacy since. The projects will be based on two books: Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It, by Lisa Bloom, and Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin, which was written by Trayvon’s parents.
Trayvon’s 2012 death at the hands of Zimmerman sparked nationwide outrage after Zimmerman was acquitted of murder. Till this day, Zimmerman has proved he’s still a stain on society.
