It’s not surprising that Jay-Z’s latest legal issues has gotten people talking and the latest person to enter the conversation—ex-girlfriend Carmen Bryan—appears to be choosing sides.

For context, Bryan—who is the former ex to fellow rapper Nas and the mother to their daughter Destiny—was embroiled in drama between the two aforementioned rappers after it was revealed she and Jay had an alleged entanglement while she still in a relationship with Nas back in the late 90s. This rumor was also the subject of Jay’s diss track against Nas titled “Supa Ugly,” that he released in 2004—four years into his relationship with Beyonce.

While Bryan had previously spoken out before about her relationship with Jay (most notably in her 2006 memoir and in 2017 where she said that he was her “best friend”), it doesn’t look like the two are on good terms anymore due to the recent rape allegations the “Reasonable Doubt” rapper is facing alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In a since-expired post to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday captured by The Neighborhood Talk, Bryan seemingly reacted to the shocking allegations, penning: “These days people don’t defend what is right, they defend who they like! -And that’s why we call you ‘groupie.’”

She later went on to post an excerpt from Jay’s verse in the 2010 hit Kanye West song, “Monster” in which he says in part: “I kill a block, I murder the avenues// I rape and pillage your village, women, and children.”

While Bryan never tags or mentions Jay outright, its pretty clear to others exactly who her posts are in reference to. She’s now the second woman who’s been romantically linked to Jay in the past to respond to the disturbing news about him as Foxy Brown also made a more cryptic post earlier this week.
