In November, former supermodel Janice Dickinson came forward with allegations that Bill Cosby sexually assaulted her in 1982. The allegations, which were nixed from Dickinson’s autobiography, were refuted by Cosby’s attorney Martin Singer, who called her accusations a lie.
Dickinson has now filed a defamation lawsuit against Cosby, stating that being called a liar has hurt her professionally and in her personal life.
"I want justice done. I want Lisa Bloom [Dickinson’s lawyer] to depose Bill Cosby, get him on the stand and in front of a jury and let the law decide,” Dickinson said.
According to the Associated Press, Dickinson is seeking unspecified damages on claims including defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Dickinson initially made her allegations during an appearance on Entertainment Tonight.
Dickinson’s lawsuit claims that she was raped after Cosby gave her wine and a pill in a Lake Tahoe, Calif., hotel room. She also says that she was going to include the story in her autobiography, but her publisher prevented her from doing so.
“Cosby knows that he drugged and raped Ms. Dickinson,” the lawsuit states. “He knew that calling her rape disclosure a lie was a false statement.”
