Singer Janelle Monáe broke the tragic news on social media that her family was hit with violence after her 37-year-old cousin was killed in a drive-by shooting in Kansas City, Kan.
According to reports, Natasha Hays and her three children were asleep Tuesday when a car drove by and shot at her home. Hays died, while her children were not injured.

"Nobody deserves to lose their mother, sister, cousin, friend, etc. to the hands of evil. Evil has no race," Monáe also tweeted.

No suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
