The Wire: “You can’t even think of calling this shit a war… Wars end.”
That’s what the beef between 50 Cent and Ja Rule feels like. The two have been feuding for so long that we often tend to forget why they don’t like each other in the first place. It’s been more than 20 years and the rappers still can’t stop talking about each other. Especially 50 (according to Ja Rule).
During a recent appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” the “Pain Is Love” rapper opened up about his history with 50. He even claimed that he beat his hip-hop rival in a fistfight.
When discussing the longevity of the feud, Ja said, “I’m cool Piers. I really don’t do social media like that at all… But I’m really not the social media guy like that. So I don’t really get into the back and forth with him.”
He later reiterated, “You never see me say anything about him. I just mind my business, do my business… I don’t do the back and forth.”
Piers even dared to ask who would win in a fight, which Ja Rule scoffed at, saying, “That’s happened already too, Piers. You gotta do your research.”
When asked who won, Ja confidently said, “I did, Piers.”
The fight J Rule is referring to is probably the one he wrote about in his 2014 book, “Unruly: The Highs and Lows of Being a Man,” where he said, “50 tried to swing on me, but I dipped, then I hit him with the baby Louisville Slugger. Bam! I dropped the bat. I pulled the shirt over his head. I started catching him left, right, uppercut.”
50 Cent has given zero credence to this claim and it hasn’t stopped him from keeping Ja Rule’s name in his mouth over the years.
How did the beef between the two rappers start?
Both sides have different reasons for why this “war” started. Ja says it was because he didn’t include 50 Cent in the music video for the 1999 song, “Murda 4 Life.”
However, 50 wrote in his 2005 book, “From Pieces to Weight,” that the beef started because a friend of his stole Ja’s necklace in 1999.
Whatever the reason, it’s clear that neither side is ever going to like the other for as long as they’re both around.
