At the beginning of the year, J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive album was one of the most talked-about hip-hop releases. During promotion for the album, Cole has proved that he’s equal parts hip-hop and helping people in need. The album was titled after the house he grew up in, and Cole is now using the home to give back to single mothers and their kids.

Helping people isn’t something that Cole boasts about, but he recently met a fan from his hometown.

Tae Stackhouse, who lives in Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville, N.C., is battling cancer. The young man’s relatives reached out to Cole to see if he could visit and lift his spirits. In true Cole fashion, the rapper was happy to make a fan’s dream come true, and he stopped by the North Carolina Cancer Hospital.

Stackhouse posted about the meeting on Facebook.

“I really appreciate this just wanna give a big s/o to my mom and my aunt for bringing my favorite rapper to see me I’m proud to say that I’m blessed even tho I have cancer he told me to keep positive so that’s what Ima do thanks j.cole #RoleModel,” Stackhouse, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, wrote on his Facebook page.

Cole’s music resonates with his fans, and it’s good to see an artist show just how much he cares.
