A few years ago, we did a few roundups of a bunch of white people who, well, exhibited traits, dispositions and interests more consistent with the black experience.
Rachel Dolezal, the president of a local NAACP chapter in Washington state, has practically emerged as the mascot for this group. The prima donna of “the Blackest White People We Know.” Reports surfaced Friday that Dolezal—a white woman—has been passing for black for years.
Her comrades in the roundups below, which we first published in 2010 and 2013, haven’t been as duplicitous with their attempts to cozy up to black folk and black culture, but the following should be a healthy reminder that some white people look at black culture with awe and admiration.
