Some feuds never die.
More than three decades since they were on an NBA court together, Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas still haven’t resolved their “issues.”
During a recent “The Draymond Green Show” appearance, Thomas was asked if their relationship is “salvageable.”
Before Green could even finish his question, the Detroit Pistons legend stated, “Dude, no. This dude got on international television and called me an a**hole. Somebody who has been good to him and until he apologizes on international television. Ain’t no conversation.”
Thomas continued, “You can’t apologize and have a private dinner when you done embarrassed me publicly. If you didn’t mean it, say it publicly. Now if you meant it, let it stand. I’m good with that.”
Thomas is referring to Jordan’s comments on his uber-popular ESPN documentary “The Last Dance,” which was released spring 2020.
When asked about Thomas and the 1991 Pistons walking off the court in the last moments of the Eastern Conference Finals, Jordan said, “Whatever he says now you know it wasn’t his true actions then. He’s had time to think about it. The reaction of the public has changed his perspective.”
He added, “You can show me anything you want, there’s no way you can convince me he wasn’t an a**hole.”
Jordan seems like the type of person to stand on what he said, so it’s unlikely that he will publicly apologize. Although he stated in the documentary that he feels that Thomas is the “second greatest point guard of all time,” it doesn’t change the way he feels about Thomas as a person, and that’s okay.
Some rivalries are meant to last forever, and just like 50 Cent and Ja Rule, Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas are meant to be sworn enemies for the rest of time and our entertainment.
