If Katt Williams isn’t the fastest comedian on Earth, he certainly is the fastest to get the whole internet talking after only just a few precious days into 2024.

As the revelations from Katt’s “Club Shay Shay” interview with Shannon “Shay Shay” Sharpe continue to make waves across the internet, some social media users are still carefully pondering the validity of the comedian’s claims while even the celebrities who caught strays also attempt a rebuttal.

Yet after finally getting through the more than 2-hour interview, there is one moment we still can’t wrap our heads around. And that was when Katt said he could run 40 yards in just over 4 seconds. A quick-witted comedian who can hit hard his words? Absolutely. But faster than a speeding bullet? Well, we have questions, and so did Black Twitter.

“I don’t think people realize how fast running a 4.3 40 is .Katt Williams IS NOT RUNNING A 4.3 bro 😂,” wrote one social media commentator on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The claim even prompted Sharpe to have a discussion with Chad Ochocinco, a former professional footballer, about its validity on the Nightcap podcast.

“Shannon Sharpe and Ocho talking Katt Williams claim he can run a sub 4.5 40 sprint is the comedy 🎭 sketch of the year 🤣🤣. Length of bball court is less than 32 yards. ⁦@ShotByLJay18 @ShawnAntoineII @WRCoachVannucci @coach_kinder,” wrote another commentator on X.

To prove Katt’s claim, R&B icon Lil Mo posted a video on her Instagram page showing Katt run, admittedly at an impressive speed, from one side of a basketball court to another—at 2 a.m. no less.

Keep in mind that a court is only 30 yards versus a football field’s 40.

“While a basketball court is actually only 30 yards he runs way faster than I thought. This Comedy beef was all we needed for 2024,” said one commentator.

To get a final word, we asked our in-house expert DJ Dunson of Deadspin, our sister sports vertical, for input.

“That was not even close to a 4.5 pace,” Dunson explained. “All that arm movement distracted from his slow top speed. T.O. ran a 4.5 when he was 22.”

He added, “The only 50-year-old I’ve ever heard of running that fast was Darrell Green, and he was one of the fastest cornerbacks ever.”

Are we all hating? Or is Katt really just that deal at 52 years old?
