Apparently, multi-platinum, award-winning R&B artist Chris Brown is feeling slighted again. The star recently hopped on his Instagram Story to let the haters know he doesn’t need their “approval.”
“I DONT WANT TO BE ACCEPTED FROM NONE OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA AND FAKE CELEBRITIES,” Brown wrote. “I AM KING IN MY OWN LANE YOUR FAVE AINT GOT SHIT ON ME AND THEY KNOW IT.”
“AINT FINNA TAP DANCE FOR APPROVAL. YOU WILL BEG FORGIVENESS OF ME. THAT I DO KNOW,” he added.
It’s not clear if the “How We Roll” singer is upset at “mainstream media” over his alleged invitation to NBA All-Star Weekend and subsequent disinvite to the event, or if there’s something else brewing that we don’t know about yet.
Maybe it’s because we report on his many scandals and controversies without giving him a pass for his behavior? Quick question: Are those of us in the “mainstream media” supposed to line up and “beg forgiveness” for doing our jobs?
His propensity for playing the victim is exhausting.
It’s even more frustrating that his extremely loyal fanbase is ready to fight whomever Brown deems the hater of the week in one of his social media rants.
One user showed their support for his message, writing on X, “Mainstream is dead anyway, just do you. Haters always gonna say something or have an opinion.”
Another person backed up the “Forever” singer’s opinion, posting, “Speak on bro, you’ve paid your dues let them choke up on their deuces, you got nothing to prove to the game, you are great. We are blessed to have you, blessed to be of same generation.”
I’m not telling anyone who to like. Be a fan of whoever you want. However, at a certain point, we do need to stop humoring our favorite artists when they don’t want to acknowledge the obvious truth.
Has Chris Brown found himself in several controversial situations over the years? Yes. Has he continued to have a successful, popular career? Yes, he’s one of the most in demand collaborators in hip-hop/R&B. He also won two NAACP Image Awards on Monday, so it seems like he’s doing OK and should relax on the “whole world’s against me” attitude. If he just makes music and stays out of trouble that’s all we’ll have to focus on.
