As Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson continues his Hollywood takeover, he’s made no secret of the fact that he’s garnered a lot of inspiration from media mogul, Tyler Perry.
The writer/director/producer has several long-running, successful television series and is set to premiere his latest film, “Divorce in the Black,” on Prime Video July 11. As he transitions from rapper to full-fledged Hollywood exec, he’d be hard-pressed to find a more lucrative road to follow than Perry’s.
In fact, he borrowed another page from the Madea filmmaker’s book with the opening of G-Unit Film Studio in Shreveport, La. His production company, G-Unit Film & Television Inc. is responsible for the mega-popular “Power” franchise and the crime drama “BMF.”
Fif recently responded to questions about following in Perry’s footsteps on Instagram, writing, “Yes I’m doing great but you’re getting it f*cked up, if you think me and Tyler will be at odds at any point. He’s helping me, already going out of his way to aid my progress.”
Now, we’re hearing how “The Oval” boss feels about Jackson’s Hollywood rise, and turns out, it’s nothing but positive.
“I’m so proud of him, he’s amazing,” Perry told TMZ. “And he’s blowing it up out of the water.” When asked about the possibility of a future collaboration between the two, he replied, “If he wants to.”
With Jackson’s penchant for gritty crime stories and Perry’s history of relationship dramas, it would be very interesting to see what kind of project the artists might collaborate on.
Up next for the “In Da Club” rapper are the last episodes of “Power Book II: Ghost”—currently set to premiere Sept.6—two more seasons of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” and a final season of “Power Book IV: Force.”
Meanwhile, in addition to multiple TV series airing across various networks and streaming services, Perry has “Divorce in the Black” premiering on Prime Video July 11 and the Netflix historical film “Six Triple Eight” coming up.
