Over the weekend, Tiger Woods , 47, acted as a caddy for his 14-year-old son Charlie as he competed in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship in Louisiana. Although Woods was not using his own golf clubs this trip, fans felt a spark of hope as news came out that he was seen walking without a limp.
Woods survived a one-car accident in Los Angeles County in February 2021. He suffered fractures to his right leg and has been on a long road to recovery, leaving fans wondering if he would ever compete again.
This April, the five-time Masters winner dropped out of the Masters before the fourth round due to a flare-up of his plantar fasciitis. Woods was seen limping during the rainy day and told ESPN during the tournament, “Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll be a little bit better, a little bit sharper and kind of inch my way through it. This is going to be an interesting finish to the tournament with the weather coming in. If I can just kind of hang in there, maybe kind of inch my way back.”
Woods posted a statement on X later that month revealing that he had a successful ankle surgery. “Tiger underwent a subtalar fusion procedure to address his post-traumatic arthritis from his previous talus fracture,” the statement reads.
Golfer Stewart Cink told the Golf Channel he believes Woods is gearing up for a comeback.
“He said that he started practicing, which I think is a great sign,” Cink said. “I don’t know what he’s practicing for, but he said he started practicing. So that means he’s in go-mode for something, and I think we’re all pulling for him to feel as good as he can feel, and if he’s hitting golf balls, I think he’s going in the right direction.”
