Kudos to Kode magazine for putting six of Hollywood's rising African-American actresses and singers on the cover of its January issue and dubbing these six ladies #GenerationNoir.
The lineup includes actress, fashion trendsetter and body-image activist Zendaya Coleman; singer and actress Kat Graham, who will play Jada Pinkett Smith in an upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic; Empire's very own Serayah; the breakout star in the film Dope, Kiersey Clemons; Black-ish's Yara Shahidi; and the prissy, uptight law student from How to Get Away With Murder, Aja Naomi King.
There's something so powerful about seeing these young ladies together in one spread, looking so sophisticated and beautiful, all with bright futures ahead of them.
Kode says that each woman's cover story, in which she describes what it's like being a black woman in Hollywood and the stuff she's got in the pipeline, will be released one by one, each day this week.
