Today, the Root will show you why Homecoming at a Black college is everything. This month one of the biggest events of the school year at the Howard University commenced. Homecoming is all about celebrating the legacy of the school and bringing together current students and alumni at various events to have a week of making beautiful memories on campus.
Photographer Alanis Baluyot McNeal attended a few of the week’s events: Yardfest, Bison Madness, and the 90s-inspired Howard fashion show. McNeal showed the beauty of an HBCU homecoming, capturing the moments that make the week so special for current students and alumni alike. From the 90s and Y2K outfits to the Showtime Marching Band shutting down Bison Madness, here’s a peek into some of the week’s festivities. Enjoy!
