Indya, Laura, Kelela ... a few fresher faces join acclaimed actresses Thandie Newton and Ruth Negga as stars in Louis Vuitton’s performer-driven 2019 Pre-Fall Lookbook, previewing the French luxury label’s next collection.
The lookbook features 17 performers from stage, studio and screen, including Oscar winner Alicia Vikander, Golden Globe winner Michelle Williams and Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner, presented in composite card-style format. As Ghesquière told Vogue, he and stylist Marie-Amélie Sauvé “worked to put together looks that the women ‘felt were right for them.’”
Pose’s Moore has been making the rounds in Vuitton this awards season, joining more established brand ambassador Laura Harrier in bringing new energy to the legacy label.
As for what to expect from the collection, which will be released in May, think print-mixing and reference points as broad-ranging as old Hollywood to the Amish. Ghesquière, who will show Louis Vuitton’s Cruise collection to New York in his first American presentation since 2002, told Vogue that the country’s influence has made its way into his design.
“This vision of American culture, the pioneer—I love that this is exotic for us,” he said. “It’s not reflected in French culture.”
