When Gary, Ind., mom Alfreda Murphy got an anonymous letter in her mailbox, her next action was to call the police and lock her children inside the house, CBS 2 reports.
"You have two lovely daughters," the letter starts, referencing Murphy’s two oldest daughters. "I and my friend have watched them every since they moved in."
In the chilling, some-60-word note, which Murphy got on Saturday, the unidentified author details where her children played just days before.
"I and my friend have watched them ever since they moved in," the note declares. "[We] almost had them on Thursday evening, will keep trying … Thank you!"
Murphy, the mother of six, found the note when she collected her mail over the weekend. It was postmarked June 6 and addressed to her house but included no name or signature.
"They're sending letters saying that they're watching my kids and they almost had them this week," she told the news station. The family only moved into the house two months ago.
"This is serious," Murphy added.
Gary police are looking into the situation, holding the letter as evidence as they try to figure out who sent the terrifying note.
