Everyone remembers that game where their mom would head to the car and tease (or threaten) to leave them if they didn’t hurry up getting ready for school, church or whatever else. However, police say this game took a horrifying turn between an Indiana mother and her small child.

St. Joseph County law enforcement says 27-year-old Jasmine White played a game routinely with her children where she would race them to her Chevy Equinox, lock the doors and pretend she was going to leave them behind by slow rolling down street. However, on Aug. 29, police said she put her foot on the gas harder than usual, per WNDU.

Witnesses told police White’s 8-year-old and 6-year-old daughters were running alongside the vehicle as it rolled down the street by the Cedar Glen Apartments. The younger daughter told investigators White was driving faster than normal — an estimated 15-20 mph, according to the police. Though, as the car rolled, the 8-year-old held onto the door handle. Police said video footage of the incident showed the vehicle increasing in speed as the girl held onto the handle of the front passenger door.

As a result, police say the vehicle ran the girl over and she was dragged to the ground, hitting her head. Though physicians were able to stabilize her, FOX 8 Live’s report says she had to be placed on intubation and IV sedation after suffering skull and orbital fractures, multiple abrasions and a facial laceration that further exposed her skull. She also lost five teeth.

White was charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury and neglect of a dependent by placing them in a dangerous situation, per St. Joseph County jail records. She’s been released on $5,000 cash bond.
