If you are one of those people who, like Omarosa Manigault Newman, believe that Donald Trump is not a racist, white-nationalist-enabling, bumbling idiot—he has given you yet another piece of evidence to sway your way of thinking.
The Washington Post reports that during a meeting with lawmakers in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump spat out a racist outburst at the mere suggestion that protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries be restored as part of a bipartisan immigration deal.
Two people briefed on the meeting told the Post that Trump asked, “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?”
He then reportedly suggested that the U.S. bring people from countries like Norway instead.
The discussion surrounded a proposal by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) that the visa lottery program be cut by 50 percent and prioritize countries already in the system.
Shortly after Trump’s racist comment made headlines, the White House issued the following statement—which was not a denial, but more like an explanation for why the president of the United States would make such a racist remark about people from war-torn and poverty-stricken countries trying to immigrate to this country the same way white people did when they landed on Plymouth Rock and started slaughtering all the indigenous people:
Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people. The President will only accept an immigration deal that adequately addresses the visa lottery system and chain migration — two programs that hurt our economy and allow terrorists into our country. Like other nations that have merit-based immigration, President Trump is fighting for permanent solutions that make our country stronger by welcoming those who can contribute to our society, grow our economy and assimilate into our great nation. He will always reject temporary, weak and dangerous stopgap measures that threaten the lives of hardworking Americans, and undercut immigrants who seek a better life in the United States through a legal pathway.
TL;DR: We will do whatever it takes to further the racist, white supremacist agenda. This means that no more black people and no more brown people will be allowed into the country if the president has his way. Quit your bitching.
