Iman Shumpert, whom half the population knows from basketball, the other half as Teyana Taylor’s boo (as seen in the shower in that sexy “Fade” video), has released a rap record saying that he’s going to “take a knee for the anthem.”
Shumpert, of the NBA championship-winning Cleveland Cavaliers, has a new track called “His Story” (NSFW) that he dropped on Soundcloud on Friday. At the 2:19 mark, the guard raps: “You best believe I'm gonna take me a knee for the anthem.”
Looks like the NBA will be the next battleground for the protest against the national anthem that was started by backup NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
The Cavs open up the NBA regular season against the Knicks on Oct. 25, and we shall see what Shumpert, his teammate LeBron James and former teammate and current Knicks player Carmelo Anthony—who have spoken out against injustice in the past—will do.
