There are going to be more than a few tears shed today around the world (What? There’s nothing in my eye!) because Idris Elba is officially off the market.
The 45-year-old actor popped the question to 29-year-old Sabrina Dhowre, the 2014 Miss Vancouver, on Saturday before a screening of his directorial debut, Yardie, a film shot on location in Jamaica.
People reports that Elba and Dhowre met and fell in love while he was making his 2017 thriller, The Mountain Between Us.
“Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special,” the actor said.
This is not Elba’s first time at the rodeo: He has a child with Naiyana Garth, 3-year-old Winston. He’s also been married twice before: to makeup artist Hanne Norgaard from 1999 to 2003 and to lawyer Sonya Hamlin for six months in 2006. Elba and Norgaard have a daughter, Isan, who is 15.
Just months ago, Elba said to Essence magazine that he would never marry again. But the third time may be the charm.
