Rumors have once again kicked up about everyone’s fave British bae, Idris Elba, possibly being tapped to play James Bond.
I mean, literally, does any showcase the key points of a Bond better?
Intrigue: Check
Attractiveness: Check, check
And on Sunday, Idris himself appeared to address those rumors, although he still said absolutely nothing, playing with our feelings and leaving us pressed.
“my name’s Elba, Idris Elba,” he quipped in a mysterious tweet.
Later, he posted another tweet with a photo of Public Enemy, which left fans a bit confused, so he followed it up with yet another tweet referencing a song by the group, quipping “Don’t believe the HYPE.”
But what if I want to believe the hype, Idris?
Of course Twitter being Twitter, everyone was jumping to conclusions and possible story lines.
It’s anybody’s guess what the star could mean. When rumors first started stirring back in 2014, Elba had said that he would “absolutely” accept the role if it were offered to him.
However, later in a 2016 interview with Good Morning America, he mused that he was too old for such a role.
“I keep saying if it were to happen it would be the will of a nation because there hasn’t been any talks between me and the studio about any of that,” he told Good Morning America “But everywhere I go people want that to happen, so.
“But if I’m really honest man, I think I’m too old for that man, running around in cars and ladies and martinis, who wants to do that?” he added. “Sounds terrible.”
[sigh].
Welp, one can dream I guess.
