Things we automatically associate with supermodels: runways, magazine covers, fashion-related reality shows, and cosmetics lines. But Tyra Banks continues to prove that she’s not your average supermodel—an oxymoron, we know—with out-of-the-box ideas that include a model-themed amusement park, an upcoming body-positive docuseries, and...“Smize Cream”?
If you’re thinking this is the “black don’t crack,” anti-aging miracle in a jar the cosmetics world has been waiting for, think again. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Banks has applied to trademark the name “Smize Cream” for use as a new brand of ice cream.
Yes, you heard that right: ice cream.
If a supermodel schilling ice cream sounds like an anomaly, we’d counter that it’s no more so than a supermodel opening an amusement park, which is where we’re guessing “Smize Cream” will be sold, or so we hope—because ice cream and amusement parks do belong together.
With that in mind, what other delectable treats might Banks’ proposed park “Modelland,” named for her 2011 young adult novel, feed its fashion-obsessed masses when it opens? Haute Dogs? Couture Cotton Candy? Fashionista Funnel Cakes?
Who knows—but if anyone can make it work (oops, that’s a Project Runway reference), it’s Tyra Banks, who brought us the unlikely phenomenon known as America’s Top Model (which has run for 24 seasons and spawned nearly 50 spin-offs—Tyra rich, y’all).
So, Tyra, while we’re not exactly screaming for “Smize Cream” (yet), we’re rooting for you. We are all rooting for you.
