(The Root)—Black Twitter is having fun over the comments CNN anchor Don Lemon made in his weekly radio commentary Tuesday night defending New York City’s stop-and-frisk policy.
After carrying on about how most citizens of New York, “in theory,” wouldn’t mind being stopped occasionally if it meant their city would be safer, he ended his remarks with, “So the question is, would you rather be politically correct or safe and alive?”
Well, no, Don, that’s not really the question. The stop-and-frisk controversy isn’t about whether or not people want “safer” cities. It’s about whether or not targeting black and brown people is a fair and logical way to get there. Lemon either doesn’t get this or he does, and he agrees with the latter point.
Black Twitter loves Lemon for his staunch defense of nonpoints, false equivalencies and logical fallacies. #DonLemonOn is trending, and it ponders what Lemon would have to say about today’s most important questions. Here are the best of them:
