Amid the nonstop racist attacks Kamala Harris has received from white conservative supporters, more than 150,000 white men joined the online stream for the “White Dudes for Harris” online fundraising event that raised more than $4 million for the presidential hopeful.
This event was a follow-up to the “White Women: Answer the Call” Zoom fundraising meeting that saw nearly 160,000 White women come together to raise money for Harris shortly after President Joe Biden dropped out of the election last week.
While the event was meant for “white dudes,” there weren’t just a bunch of civilians on the call — there were actors, professional athletes, directors, and other politicians who spoke during the event to rally support.
Some of the names included actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Gad, Tim Daly, Mark Hamill, and director J.J. Abrams.
Not to mention “The Dude” himself, “The Big Lebowski’s” Jeff Bridges.
Politicians who spoke during the event included many “white dudes” who are also being considered as running mates for Harris, including U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
According to CNBC, Walz asked during the call, “How often in a hundred days do you get to change the trajectory of the world? How often in a hundred days do you get to do something that’s going to impact generations to come?”
The amount of support and donations Harris has received in the last week is historic. Despite her campaign raising more than $81 million in the 24 hours after Biden announced his exit, supporters still aren’t satisfied and are organizing events like this one to ensure Harris wins one of the more important presidential elections in recent American history.
