You know you're wrong when a fellow Republican won't support you. The House Republicans' No. 2 leader, Eric Cantor of Virginia, rejected Ohio House GOP candidate Rich Iott, who is a Nazi re-enactor. Cantor said that he would not support someone who would do that. Iott, a Tea Party favorite from northwest Ohio, is running in the 9th Congressional District against Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who was first elected in 1982. The Atlantic magazine reported last week that Iott has participated in the re-enactments, wearing a Waffen-SS uniform, since 2003. Uh-huh. Iott defended his actions by stating that he's been involved with historical re-enactments from different eras since he graduated college and that he didn't mean to disrespect anyone who has served in the military. When are people going to figure out that re-enacting painful and horrific events like the Civil War and the Nazis' World War II reign of terror is unacceptable? Perhaps Cantor should aim some of his ire at Civil War re-enactors in his home state of Virginia.
