It’s hard not to root for Megan Thee Stallion, a bawse ass bitch whose efforts and lyricism has placed her in the minds of many a person with taste. As quipped by Essence, Megan Thee Stallion isn’t a one trick pony. Her lyrical stylings have landed her on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with her single “Big Ole Freak.”
Houston is known for blessing the world with extremely talented people. The southern city has already given us Beyoncé, Solange, Phylicia Rashad, and writer Michael Arceneaux. Now the city is on its “hot girl shit” with Megan Thee Stallion (born Megan Pete).
The Texas Southern University student isn’t new to this rap game. Her late mother, Holly Thomas, was a rapper under the name Holly-Wood, and as a youngster, Megan would often tag along with her mother, watching her work and molding her craft. It ignited her passion.
In an interview with Essence aka Black Girl Magic HQ, Megan said she knew she always wanted to be a rapper since the tender age of five. She added that watching her mother showed her that she can do this, and that she wanted to be about this life.
Megan’s talent is undeniable and she’s dropping freestyle, after freestyle to make sure you don’t forget this black ass fact. In a one-session posted on her Instagram account, she states defiantly: “He said I should be nicer, well your dick should be bigger,” and I felt that line on a spiritual level. She follows up with: “I don’t chase my liquor, so why should I chase a nigga?” MAM, this is a word straight from the MOST HIGH and I felt that shit in my damn kidneys! God is just out here using folks to drop a word. Turn to your neighbor and say “DON’T CHASE THESE NIGGAS!”
Megan’s project Tina Snow is filled with such gems as the aforementioned and my God, the album is biblical. I would go as far as dubbing it “An album for colored people who have had enough of your shit when dealing with men falls short.”
Thee Stallion is definitely thoroughbred, and she’ll continue to be on her “hot girl” shit while making bags and making that shit twerk!
