This is the second weekend in a row in Chicago during which more than 50 people were shot. The number of homicides so far this year is now 55 percent above the number at the same point last year.

According to the Tribune, more than 660 people have been killed so far this year, and the city is expected to exceed 700 homicides by the end of the year.

The number of people shot this year so far exceeds last year’s by more than 1,000: This year’s number is 3,795, while last year’s total was 2,620.
