Billy Ray Harris, a homeless man in Kansas City, Mo., returned an engagement ring to a woman who accidentally dropped it in the cup he was using to collect change, and he's now receiving his own rewards, NPR reports.

After Sarah Darling got her jewelry back, she and her husband, Bill Krejci, launched a Give Forward page to collect money for Harris — and this morning, KCTV of Kansas reported that it had already collected $152,000.

Krejci says when it comes to making good use of the donations, Harris "has a very solid plan and a very solid way of making it happen."

What stopped a man obviously in need of money from pawning the ring when he had a chance? Harris told KCTV, "My grandfather was a reverend. He raised me from the time I was 6 months old, and thank the good Lord, it's a blessing, but I do still have some character."
