The New York Daily News is reporting that authorities say that Harold Smith's alleged murder of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen was a botched robbery. Apparently Smith shot Chasen in the chest five times on a bicycle. Officers say it was a random act of violence. Smith killed himself in a seedy motel after police officers received a tip about his whereabouts from America's Most Wanted. A neighbor stated that Smith bragged to her about "whacking" Chasen for $10,000. Authorities have dismissed that suggestion, insisting that it's bogus. Someone shooting someone in the chest five times on a bicycle and then leaving with nothing is what sounds bogus to us. How is someone on a bicycle trying to rob someone in a vehicle anyway? We're not conspiracy theorists, but this story just does not add up.
