The Minnesota Independent is reporting that Amy Myers, a New Jersey high school student, has challenged Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) to a debate on U.S. history and the Consitution in an open letter. Myers wrote, "I have found quite a few of your statements regarding The Constitution of the United States, the quality of public school education and general U.S. civics matters to be factually incorrect, inaccurately applied or grossly distorted.

"I, Amy Myers, do hereby challenge Representative Michele Bachmann to a Public Forum Debate and/or Fact Test on The Constitution of the United States, United States History and United States Civics," Myers wrote, according to a report by City Pages’ Nick Pinto. Bachmann has been repeatedly called on the carpet for her misrepresentation of "facts" about the Consitution by fact-checking groups like PolitiFact and journalists like CNN's Anderson Cooper.

And now Myers, a high school student, is calling for a debate with Bachmann over her loose interpretation of facts. How off do your statements have to be for a teenager from another state to challenge you to a debate? Kudos to Myers for challenging Bachmann on her "facts" and for demonstrating that teenagers are more than just followers. Bachmann and politicians like her will have to stop relying on the "fact" that current and future voters are too stupid to think for themselves and offer real information and "facts" in their debates.
