Herman Cain: 'I'm the Black Walnut'

Last week Sarah Palin dismissed GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain as the "flavor of the week" in the race. Cain disagrees that his place in the political spotlight is fleeting, but he's clearly given some serious thought to the flavor of frozen treat with which he'd like to be associated. On Fox and Friends yesterday, Cain quipped about Chris Christie, "He'll get a lot of attention, suck up a lot of oxygen for a while, and at the same time, you'll see 'black walnut' moving up the charts!"

Then he got really into the metaphor: "I can eat black walnut all the time — it's not a flavor of the week!" Cain said. "It's not that heavy. You can eat it on the cone or in a cup."

This wasn't Cain's first time likening himself to the frozen dessert. "I happen to believe there's iced milk, and then there's Häagen-Dazs black walnut," he told Jay Leno last Friday. "Substance, that's the difference. I got the substance. I'm the black walnut! It lasts longer than a week."
