I guess people will never learn. What you put on social media is always going to live with you, whether you posted it one week ago, or one year ago. Especially when you post racist and misogynistic messages on there, like the former executive director of the North Dakota Republican Party.
On Oct. 23, Dave Roetman was hired to lead the conservative organization. Seven days later, he resigned from his position with the North Dakota GOP Party.
Why you ask? Just days after he started his new job, The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead reported that Roetman had a long history of making racist, misogynistic, bigoted, discriminatory, stereotypical, and hateful posts on social media, most notably X (Twitter).
Go to his profile page now, many of those ignorant posts are still up for the world to see.
Along with being hateful on these posts, Roetman comes across as a conservative COVID conspiracy theorist who goes against anything “woke” people say and considers “cancel culture” to be the worst thing to ever exist.
Predictably, he also hates anything President Joe Biden says and loves anything Donald Trump does.
The worst of these posts came when Roetman suggested that Black people should leave the United States and move to Wakanda (a place that doesn’t even exist), according to The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead.
In a statement to the Associated Press, Roetman explained why he resigned, saying, “I think that recent events have been a distraction for the party, and I just don’t want it to be a distraction. We need to have a strong party, and I’m just going to take a different path here.”
Translation, “I got caught being racist and sexist on social media so I have no choice but to quit.”
In response to the posts, North Dakota Republican Party Chair Sandi Sanford said she told Roetman, “This is your content. You’re an adult, you’re going to have to deal with responding to it,” according to AP.
