I bet LeBron James and Serena Williams are probably wondering, “How did I get pulled into all of this?!”

First things first, LeBron and Serena are not being accused of being a part of a gang or supporting gang culture. So let’s clear that up.

In the Law & Crime stream of the trial, attorneys ask YSL co-founder and witness Trentavious Stephens about a video of James wiping his nose and saying “slime” to a Los Angeles Lakers teammate.

While prosecuting attorneys are arguing that the handshake is a way to communicate between gang members that a rival of theirs has been killed, Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, claimed that the handshake is simply a part of hip-hop culture and is used by many people who are fans of Young Thug and not affiliated with YSL or gang culture.

The video of James doing the handshake is below:

Now you get it, the two stars are just being used as examples in the YSL RICO trial.

To strengthen his argument, Steel asked Stephens about a dance that Serena Williams had done while at a Tennis event, specifically the 2012 Olympics

“Have you seen her at Wimbledon doing what’s called the Crip Walk? Do you know what a Crip Walk is, first of all?” he asked.

In response, Stephens unsurprisingly answered, “I don’t watch tennis.”

This was a chance for Steel to build up his argument that although James is saying “slime” during a handshake and Williams is doing the “crip walk,” these acts are ultimately harmless.

While this is a notable moment in the trial, it is far from over. We have no idea what else will come up, but we do know it will be interesting.
