Doechii’’s recent 2025 Grammys win and subsequent winners speech may have gone viral but it’s her snatched fashion accessory that now has everyone buzzing. And now we’ve got all the info on it.

As pictured above and in previous pictures of the “Nissan Altima” rapper, you can see that she has visible face tape going around her head. And while yes, the style hack may be a bit explicit and eclectic, but according to Doechii herself—it’s there for a very specific reason.

“The face tapes are there on purpose because… it’s c*nt,” she said in a recent video to TikTok.

And while that descriptive word may be a bit much, what she’s really saying is that the long-used accessory is there to make her face appear more snatched and cinched back. It’s a common tool used by models and celebrities to help them have the look of a person who may have had a slight cosmetic procedure done while not actually enduring said procedure in the first place. Its popularity has also been on the rise with the help of people like Doechii and other beauty influencers on social media over the last year.

“Face taping may not be mainstream but it’s not new,” said Anthony Rossi, a board-certified dermatologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in an recent interview with Byrdie back on October. “From drag performers to movie stars, face taping has been used to help instantly lift the skin and disguise wrinkles in strategic places. By taping the face up in certain vectors, you can give an instant facelift effect.”

Added board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Rukmini Rednam to PEOPLE on Wednesday : “Following along with the trend of celebrities being more open about their treatments, I think Doechii is happy to share that she uses this product to get a certain look without any shame or regrets.”
