One of these days, people are going to learn that they don’t always have to take what’s offered to them. And Sunday night’s Billboard Music Awards Prince tribute is a prime example.
Many people weren’t pleased when they found out that Madonna would be performing the tribute after she reportedly contacted Billboard and offered her services. Billboard’s people could easily have said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” But they didn’t. Then, not only was the performance horrible, but Billboard even roped in Questlove and Stevie Wonder in an attempt to give the performance some credibility.
Social media wasn’t buying it:
There was one saving grace about the performance: It’s going to make other award shows raise the ante. Seriously, when BET can shade your show with one simple tweet, you know you’ve failed.
