It’s the announcement basketball fans have been waiting for: LeBron James is heading home to possibly finish out his career in the city that made him. Right now there are probably a few tears being shed in Miami, and more than a few people in Cleveland celebrating in the streets.
James wrote a sentimental piece for Sports Illustrated describing how he came to his decision. “My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball,” James said in the essay. “I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now.”
When news about James’ departure hit social media, the reactions varied. Many people wondered what Dwyane Wade would do without his “best man.” Will Gabrielle Union have to throw on a jersey to fill the emptiness, now that James is gone? Will those Wade fans in Miami burn their jerseys and get their Cav jerseys out of storage?
