The heat wave baking the East Coast is taking its toll. In the D.C., Maryland and Virginia area, 27 heat-related deaths have been reported. Maryland is reporting 17 heat-related deaths, D.C. has one and Virginia has nine. Most heat-related deaths are preventable. Drinking fluids and seeking relief in air-conditioned spaces can help prevent such deaths.
