A Houston mother pledges to preserve her daughter’s memory after the two-year-old’s untimely death last week. A’Daya Rain Fisher was killed in her babysitter’s home after she was attacked by three Rottweilers, according to Houston Fox News.
The tragic accident occurred during the afternoon of July 29. Authorities responded to a call about a vicious dog, and after arriving to the family home, Fisher’s body was discovered, according to a City of Houston news release. The toddler was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Shane Hughes, a spokesman for Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, told USA TODAY a preliminary autopsy revealed Fisher died from “multiple sharp and blunt force injuries due to dog bites.”
Cedric Smith, a relative to the family, told ABC News “they normally had it all locked up and whatnot, and the dog just broke through. That’s what I’m thinking, because they’re not like that.”
According to ABC, Fisher was being watched by her 18-year-old cousin when the attack happened. The two-year-old frequented the babysitter’s house, as she was a direct relative.

Fisher’s mother, Daja Pringle, said during an interview with Fox News, “I saw my baby, and I laid with my baby until I couldn’t anymore.” Pringle continued “and her beautiful face was still her beautiful face.”
Pringle continued telling Fox her daughter “was full of personality; always smiling, always dancing.” Fisher was also close with her older brother, 4-year-old Remi. On the GoFundMe page created to help with funeral costs, the family wrote, “Their bond was unbreakable, and Remi is struggling to understand why his beloved sister is no longer with them.”
Fisher’s mother said that despite her grief, she finds comfort knowing her daughter has been united with her mother, who unexpectedly died in 2015. “I’m blessed that they’re with each other, neither one of them are here, and they can guide me,” she said.
The three dogs were taken by the City of Houston BARC and have since been put down. Fisher will be laid to rest on Friday. So far, no charges have been filed regarding the incident.
Pringle told Fox she plans to launch a nonprofit organization aiming to raise awareness and support families struggling with similar tragedies.
