Want to see people with Apple Watches be forced to hack off their hand with a saw? Well, Chris Rock is here for you!

According to Deadline, the funnyman will be rebooting the film that set a wave of similar “torture porn” projects in that era.

“I’ve been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004,” Rock said, via Deadline. “I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”

The rebooted Saw project comes from a new partnership involving Rock, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures. The film will be adapted by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg from a story written by Rock. Rock will serve as executive producer.

“When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins-off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all in,” Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake noted. “Saw is one of the highest grossing horror franchises of all-time and it’s one of Lionsgate’s most successful film series. This upcoming film will still be as mind-bending and intense as all the previous Saw films. Chris conceived this idea and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision and passion for this classic horror franchise.”

According to Forbes, the original Saw had a budget of $1.2 million and grossed more than $100 million, which made it the most profitable film at the time since Scream (1996). Eight films since and the rest is history. Question, though—do reboots get to marinate anymore? The last Saw franchise film was Jigsaw, which came out in 2017. Two years ago.

Regardless, since it is a super popular franchise and Rock is super mainstream popular, I don’t doubt butts will be in the seats.

But, I know one thing—Jigsaw bet not say “nigga.”
