After nearly four long years of litigious back and forth between Megan Thee Stallion and her former label 1501 Entertainment, it looks as if the end has finally come.
Per Billboard, the entertainment company announced on Thursday that both they and Megan “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences” and will “amicably part ways.” Specific details about regarding figures have yet to be disclosed.
In an additional statement, the company said all parties were “pleased to put this matter behind them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses.” 1501's CEO and president Carl Crawford also wished the “Savage” rapper “the very best in her life and career.”
This move comes six months after the Megan previously filed a motion against Crawford over allegations that he’d been “lining his pockets” with money from her hit songs while she got nothing. She also claimed that the primary account between her and the label was getting low at the time and only has $10,000 left in it despite having deposits in the millions prior to. However, it appears money—and more importantly, the label—will no longer be a thorn in Megan’s side any longer.
As exciting as this news is for the “Bongos” rapper, it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise to some as Meg alluded to no longer having ties to 1501—or any label, for that matter—just last week.
“This part of my album is definitely very much so funded by Megan Thee Stallion because we’re trying to get off…Y’all know. Y’all know what’s the tea. But I have no label right now,” she said in a previous Instagram Live session. “And we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets. So, the budget is coming from me. Motherfucking Hot Girl Productions! The next shit y’all about to see about to be all straight from Megan Thee Stallion’s brain and Megan Thee Stallion’s wallet. We in my pockets, hotties, so let’s do our big one.”
