While word on the street is that Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has been replaced by Kathryn Heigl on the set of the film New Year's Eve, Black Voices is reporting that Berry has pulled out of the romantic comedy in order to focus on the custody fight that is developing between her and her ex, Canadian model Gabriel Aubry. Berry and Aubry split last April after four years together, insisting that it was an amicable split.
My, how things change in less than a year. Berry is dating international actor Olivier Martinez, while Aubry has been spotted with a bevy of beauties, including Kim Kardashian. Now there are issues over custody. Black Voices reports that Berry had attempted to resolve these custody issues amicably with her daughter's father directly, but given his lack of cooperation, Berry felt she had no choice but to seek swift judicial intervention. Apparently she has serious concerns for her daughter's well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her.
On another note, what's up with women having kids with men they don't trust to leave them with unsupervised or for extended periods of time? Why all of the drama all of a sudden? In the words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?" — especially for the sake of a child who didn't ask to be here?
