Halle Berry and Idris Elba received 2011 Golden Globe Award nominations. Berry was nominated in the best actress category for her role in the upcoming film Frankie and Alice, and Elba was selected for his work in the BBC America drama Luther. Berry and Elba face stiff competition in both categories. Berry will compete for best actress against Nicole Kidman for the grieving-parent tale Rabbit Hole, Jennifer Lawrence for the Ozarks crime film Winter's Bone, Natalie Portman for Black Swan and Michelle Williams for Blue Valentine. Elba is nominated for best actor in a miniseries or movie. He will compete against Ian McShane of Pillars of the Earth, Al Pacino for You Don't Know Jack, Dennis Quaid for The Special Relationship and Edgar Ramirez for Carlos.
The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will be broadcast on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011. Hats off to Berry and Elba, who is finally getting the recognition that his brilliant performances deserve, especially in Luther.
