It’s no secret that celebrities sometimes choose unconventional names for their kids. They range from totally out there, to adorably unique. Halle Bailey and her boyfriend, rapper DDG, have certainly picked the latter where their son is concerned. They chose to gift their little angel with the name Halo. “The Little Mermaid” star explained that it was DDG who chose it.
“It was actually my boyfriend’s idea,” she told People. “He’s the one who came up with his name. We just agreed, and we loved it. I love the name Halo.”
On whether Beyoncé’s hit ballad of the same name had anything to do with the choice, Bailey replied, “He for sure has a theme song.”
Despite the adorable name, Bailey recently came under fire for how she chose to hide her pregnancy from fans. This discourse comes after fans spent most of 2023 speculating on whether the rising star was pregnant or not. As rumors swirled about her “pregnancy nose” and lack of public appearances, the assumptions about her expecting a child got louder. Bailey and her inner circle continued to keep things quiet, allowing the couple to enjoy their family journey privately.
She recently found herself as the subject of backlash when she posted side by side photos to show how she photoshopped her baby bump out of pictures. Some of her followers felt she “lied and gaslit” them, which is such ridiculous nonsense.
Just to be clear, it’s no one’s business how “The Color Purple” actress shares her personal life. I don’t care how much of a fan you are, that doesn’t entitle you to be involved in aspects of her life that she wants to keep private. Calling her a liar for not revealing a pregnancy is the height of fandom gone wrong.
Don’t be that person. Just wish her congratulations and blessings, then keep it moving.
