According to Buzzfeed, over the weekend, Halle hopped on Snapchat to talk about her day and ended up discussing a common fan interaction she has. While stressing that most fans are really nice, she revealed that their first comment is usually a bit unnerving.
“So, can I ask a question,” she said. “I have had so many people come up to me — who are so nice, y’all are so nice — the first thing you say to me is, ‘Wow, you’re so much prettier in person!’”
“The Little Mermaid” star wondered if there was something about her on-screen appearance that was leading to the “backhanded compliment.”
“Do I look ugly in pictures or something,” she asked. “What does that mean?” She also questioned if people “thought I was not cute or something before?’”
Just so it’s clear, Halle is beautiful in pictures, movies and TV series. When she pops up on social media to show off her natural hair, she’s beautiful. And when she posted photos of her pregnant belly, she was beautiful.
We also need to salute her for having the courage to voice these feelings. She’s a someone who’s usually very open with her fans, so it’s admirable that she set boundaries for future interactions.
