Yes, people are still speculating about who “Becky With the Good Hair”—the infamous harlot Beyoncé sung about when she spilled her magnificent Lemonade on us—is.
This time, the guesswork comes from Amber Rose who, during an appearance on Heidi and Spencer (whomst?) Pratt’s podcast, Make Speidi Famous Again (again, who?), shared with the two hosts that she believes longtime Bey-Z friend, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, was the real Becky.
“I definitely think that Gwyneth Paltrow is ‘Becky with the good hair.’ I really feel like she’s the one who was, like, fucking Jay-Z,” Rose said, according to People magazine.
Thanks for that image, Amber.
To recap for the “sleeping under a rock since 2008, what’s good?” set: Beyoncé had included the line, “better call Becky with the good hair” on her song, “Sorry,” alluding to one of Jay-Z’s mistresses. As we are all well-aware by now, the Lemonade album was centered on infidelity (mostly Jay-Z’s) and the devastation it wrought upon the Knowles-Carter family, as well as Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s subsequent healing and reconciliation.
Anyway, why does Amber Rose think Gwyneth was involved? Well, when was the last time Paltrow has been seen with the globe-trotting, concert-giving, twins-having pair?
“They were like friends, and then, like, you don’t see Gwyneth Paltrow with Beyoncé anymore. But like Beyoncé’s still with Jay,” Rose said.
Fair point. After all, Paltrow and ex-hubby, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, were seen rather frequently with Bey-Z for a time, even securing a spot on the couple’s highly exclusive guest list when they got married.
But, like we said, globe-trotting, concert-giving, and twins-having could narrow down your availability for a catchup brunch.
While a source close to Rose told People Magazine that Amber’s theory was all just jokes, Paltrow took the matter seriously enough to respond. A rep for Gwyneth “Don’t Call Me Becky” Paltrow told People that Rose’s allegations are “completely absurd and 100 percent false.”
And another source told People: “Gwyneth and Beyoncé and Jay-Z are still very close friends so none of this makes any sense.”
Alas. The search for (or, for those who have their pet theories, confirmation of) the ultimate Becky continues.
