GrubHub CEO Matt Maloney isn't going to sit idly around and stand for intolerance in the workplace, and he made that clear in a postelection blog post to his employees. But some outlets, like Fox, took it as a message that Donald Trump supporters should resign.
“I and everyone else here at GrubHub will fight for your dignity and your right to make a better life for yourself and your family here in the United States,” said Maloney in the first blog post. “If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here.”
Of course, Fox got riled up and stated that Maloney wanted all the Trump supporters to resign, but the CEO said in a new post that that wasn't his intention.
“I want to clarify that I did not ask for anyone to resign if they voted for Trump,” Maloney said in the updated post. “I would never make such a demand. To the contrary, the message of the email is that we do not tolerate discriminatory activity or hateful commentary in the workplace, and that we will stand up for our employees.”
Out of the 1,000 people employed at GrubHub, I'm pretty sure that Maloney realizes that there are potential Trump supporters working for him. But from an H.R. perspective, a hostile work environment works both ways when it comes to people who share different ideas feeling as though they don't belong. But hell, the Trumpocalypse is upon us: Show your face and show your racism—don't hide behind it—so people can spot you easier.
